Roommates
Okay, so I was going to talk about snow removal which is an intresting topic considering that mammoth lakes gets 450 inches of snow a year. But I will be saving that for another time. Instead I will talk a bit about employee housing. Throughout the town there are over 600 beds allocated for employee housing. Ranging from the brand new chutes which are very nice apartments with indivual rooms to the white stag and the ullr which even though they are four people to a room, they should pretty much just knock out the walls and doors and have a wide open barracks because you pretty much can get into any room with your vons card. A great place to say the least. In addition to those places there are several other options throughout town to fit most needs. Plus the other housing arangements throughout town for that you find out once you been here for a bit. Namely condos. So there's a lot of different opitions available. The thing that makes the difference despite how good or bad the property is roomates. Living in employee housing can be very rough because drinking is one of the primary time killers of employees and dealing with it's consequences is not always very fun. So while there are some bad places to live there are good places to be in. It all depends on the roomates which in employee housing you always don't get to pick your roomates and that's where things can get intresting. Thankfully for the most part when i have been living in the Yellowstone dorms and here except for the first night. I have been paired with pretty good roomates and that has made all the difference in the world. In my suite there are six of us. Clay a classic blond haired surfer, Dan the 1800 mammoth guy. My self, the June mtn guy. And then's there internationals who all work as ski instructers at canyon lodge. Ian from British Columbia in Canada. Andres from Switzerland and Martin from England. So it's a quiite a dervise group. But for the most we all get a long and actually do things together. Which makes things much better. So in closing no matter where you are at, make sure you have good roomates for they make all the difference in the world. Next time (TBA)
