First chair of the season.

With the snowmaking cabilities at Mammoth Mtn, we were the first resort to open in North America with one run of man made snow. It is pretty cool to see the mtn turn from brown to white. Even though opening day is very cool at a ski area and full of excitement to get the first chair, to me it can't compare to the opening day of baseball season. There's something magical about the baseball season. To me the baseball season opener is unlike anything else in the world. It's only five months away.

Now the most interesting part of opening day, was while I was working it was the people. It felt like I was helping the same kid 500 hundred times. They almost looked and dressed the same. A beany held on my thier googles covers thier long strangly hair, puffy jacket holding thier ipods blasting rock and rap music. Snowpants hanging of thier butts with thier cuffs frayed at the bottoms. That was the typical dress for most of them or some minor variation of it. And I can't forget to mention that all of this gear is made by burton, dc shoes or one of the many other snowboarding companies out there. Can you say product branding?

It was surreal at times. Because it was tough to tell the different kids apart. So you the kid with grey and red pants? Not the kid with grey and white pants right...You still not getting a discount on your food.

As for me I want to get few more hikes in before it snows and I pull out my snowboarding gear for the season.
